Kazakhstan: "Sept 2002, $40, suite with 1 double bed, private bath with tub and shower, refridgerator, room service, phone, TV, coffee shop, restaurant, staff spoke English, walking distance to shopping, 'This hotel had several channels on TV, mostly in Russian/kazak, but they did have BBC. The price included breakfast, which was their choice of what you had each day. The English spoken there was very limited, but they were friendly and tried to help. They had 3 dogs that barked every night. Our room was right where they were, but other rooms could not hear them like we did. We were very comfortable in Pavladar. We could walk to the Internet Cafe and to different stores and shops on our own.' Contact Ron and Jane for further information."

Druzhba: "March/April 2005, $70 for 2 people and 1 bed; private bath with tub and shower, refrigerator, mini bar, air conditioned, heated, phones, TV, restaurant, bar, gift shop, salon, walking distance to shopping. 'Centrally located and on busy street, but in winter with windows closed, the noise level isn't bad at all- two balconies. English speaking tv channels are VH1, Fashion TV and CNN. Staff are very helpful and friendly and have even routed phone calls to the restaurant for us while we been eating breakfast. Area attractions- Irtysh River seems like it would be a scenic place when not iced over! Large Russian Orthodox and large mosque. Bowling alley. Great restaurants.'
